The Go-To Support for Therapists Navigating Maternity and Pivotal Life Transitions

Therapists dedicate their lives to guiding others through challenges and transitions, but what happens when they need to step away temporarily? Whether it’s maternity leave, a personal milestone, or an extended break, ensuring continued care for their clients can be a significant concern. That’s where trauma-informed coaching steps in, offering crucial support to bridge the gap.

At Survivor Rising LLC, my mission is to provide trauma-informed coaching designed to support therapists’ clients during these transitional periods. By addressing the needs of clients directly, I help ensure continuity of care and emotional well-being while their primary therapist is away.

Why Trauma-Informed Coaching Matters During Transitions When therapists step away, clients can feel uncertainty or disruption in their care. Trauma-informed coaching offers a thoughtful approach to providing temporary support, helping clients navigate this period with resilience and confidence. My coaching services help to:

  • Provide a safe and supportive space for clients during their therapist’s absence.

  • Foster emotional stability and continuity of care.

  • Offer tools and strategies to empower clients in managing their progress independently.

  • Bridge the gap between sessions and maintain trust in the therapeutic process.

Creating a Continuum of Care The cornerstone of trauma-informed coaching is creating a seamless experience for clients during a therapist’s leave. This means honoring the work already done in therapy, respecting the therapeutic relationship, and focusing on maintaining momentum in a way that complements the therapist’s future plans for their clients.

My Personal Journey Therapy has been a transformative tool in my healing journey. I have had the gift of having three notable therapists who have supported me throughout my life. I have also been a client through the course of three maternity leaves. In my experiences, I am so grateful to have therapists who put in a lot of effort to offer me resources, and even their own time, during these leaves to support me. Although extremely qualified therapists were always made available, I wasn't interested in meeting with a new therapist and feeling the urge to need to share my whole life story from the beginning. I was excited for each therapist for their own milestones but felt selfish for this anxiety that kept coming up within me when preparing for this absence. Experiencing gaps in care highlighted the importance of a system that prioritizes client AND practitioner well-being during these times. This realization inspired me to create a coaching model that provides therapists with the reassurance that their clients are in good hands during their leave.
